Christmas Gift Guide: The Jewellery Fanatic

Jewellery tends to be a staple on any Christmas list. Whether it’s a wish list or a giving list, there is always a pair of earrings, or a nice necklace nestled somewhere on lists in each household. Lucky for you (and your mum, brother, daughter, hubby, next door neighbour), The Collective Beat, The Mill Marketplace and The Collective Beat Handmade Gallery have you covered for jewellery gifts this Christmas.

MADE FROM POLYMER CLAY

WHITE CLAY MOUNTAIN, KIAH AND CO, DUBBA AND MOO

These three small businesses, White Clay Mountain (left), Kiah and Co (middle), and Dubba and Moo (right) all make the most beautiful polymer clay earrings. Even though all three use the same medium, the designs they create are all different to one another. One of the best things about polymer clay is that no two pieces are the same - even in a pair of earrings! This is because they are all meticulously made by hand.

While cured polymer clay is water resistant, you should refrain from wearing your jewellery in or around water to ensure you have your pieces for the full extent of their life.

You can find White Clay Mountain in The Collective Beat Gerringong; you can find Statement Candle Co in The Collective Beat Huskisson; and you can find Dubba and Moo in The Collective Beat Kiama, and in our sister store, The Mill Marketplace in Pyree, open Wednesday to Sunday

SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT

JESS MAYBEE, EVIL EYE SHOP, MILK THIEVES

If you’re looking for something funky for that quirky bird in your life this Christmas, we have once again got you covered with these small businesses from around the South Coast. Jess MayBee (left) makes beaded bracelets with eccentric sayings and quotes on them which are perfect for the gen z-ers in your life this Christmas!

Evil Eye Shop (centre) comes off the back of the Evil Eye cafe in Wollongong and they have evil eye's galore! Bracelets, anklets, necklaces, rings, and more to keep on you at all times to keep that bad energy at bay.

And finally, Milk Thieves (right), if those studs don’t make you immediately think of The Wiggles (cue fruit salad, yummy yummy), then you’re probably on the naughty list this year…

You can find Jess MayBee in The Collective Beat Handmade Gallery in Kiama; you can find Evil Eye Shop in our sister store, The Mill Marketplace in Pyree, open Wednesday to Sunday; and you can find Milk Thieves in The Collective Beat Huskisson

A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING

JULIA PARIS DESIGNS, DESIGNED BY STACEY, NOA DESIGNS, SHIANNE THOMPSON, HAKEA JEWELLERY

Now it comes to when you’re not really sure what you’re getting someone, but they have given you “jewellery” as something to go off of. Any one of these small local businesses will do the trick when it comes to gifting jewellery for a loved one.

Julia Paris (left) handcrafts the most incredible pieces of jewellery using high quality metals and stunning gemstones to create rings, necklaces, earrings and more. All of the pieces that Julia makes are made to stand the test of time, and if looked after properly, this will be the case. For more information on how to properly care for your jewellery to ensure they last as long as possible, head to Julia’s website.

The dark grey matching set from Designed by Stacey (second from left) is just one of many colour-ways that you can find wherever Stacey’s jewellery is. She works with stones, freshwater pearls and other materials to bring you anything from necklaces, bracelets, earrings and anklets.

Noa Designs (centre) are perfect for when you need a staple piece that never need to be taken off! Inspired by the landscape and sea of the NSW South Coast, each piece is handcrafted using sterling silver, 9ct gold, and/or freshwater pearls, and all pieces end up a little different than the next.

The imprinted rings from Shianne Thompson (second from right) are just one of the designs that feature throughout her work. Shianne works with metals and incorporates nature into her pieces in the most beautiful way possible, through careful procedures and ending up with a stunning piece of art to take home.

The last, but definitely not least, small business in our jewellery Christmas gift guide is Hakea Jewellery (right) who use recycled sterling silver, seaglass, and sustainable gems to create their pieces. After working for many years as an ecological research scientist, and then a high school biology teacher, Hakea was created and named after Sam’s favourite Australian flower, the Hakea.

You can find Julia Paris Designs in The Collective Beat Handmade Gallery in Kiama and The Collective Beat Gerringong; you can find Designed by Stacey in The Collective Beat Kiama and our sister store The Mill Marketplace in Pyree, open Wednesday to Sunday; you can find Noa Designs in The Collective Beat Handmade Gallery in Kiama; you can find Shianne Thompson in The Collective Beat Huskisson; and you can find Hakea Jewellery in The Collective Beat Milton.

We are sure that no matter the kind of jewellery you have been sent on a mission for this Christmas, The Collective Beat, The Mill Marketplace or The Collective Beat Handmade Gallery will have something for you.
